February 2008

Letter from Executive Director Ed Bamberger

We are taking a Winter Hiatus and will not hold events in January.  We will resume in February with three fine dining experiences. One month has been added to your membership to compensate for the month closed. Our December dinner at Daniele Osteria has been cancelled.

Take advantage of our current membership special.  Renew by January 31, 2008, at a $25 discount

($170 vs. $195). Tell your single friends and colleagues about this as it also applies to new memberships. You will get four months added to your membership for every male you recruit and two months for every female.

Dark wood paneling augments the sophisticated atmosphere at The Capital Grille, one of Dallas' finest restaurants prized for its prime beef and flown-in-daily fresh seafood. Savor a fine dinner with choice of starters that includes a lobster salad. Entrée choices include a Kona-rubbed, dry-aged prime sirloin, sesame-seared ahi tuna and twin Australian lamb chops. Chocoholics will swoon over the flourless chocolate espresso cake or, for a lighter ending, opt for strawberries with ruby port and Grand Marnier sauce with homemade vanilla ice cream.

Fresh ingredients meshed with assertive flavors is the trademark at Roy's in Plano, serving Hawaiian fusion cuisine created by internationally acclaimed chef,

Roy Yamaguchi.  Entrées include Hawaiian barbecued sirloin, cracked black peppercorn king salmon and a slow-roasted half chicken with mushroom-apple dressing.  Dessert is the counterpoint: warm macadamia nut and almond tart with homemade cinnamon ice cream. Yum!

Don't wait too late to make your reservation for our Sunday night wine dinner at York Street, the only Texas restaurant among the Top 100 Restaurants in the U.S. by the 2007 Bon Appetit magazine. Bill Addison, dining critic for the Dallas Morning News, says "When you want to impress out-of-town guests, this is the first place to go!"  You'll quickly see why this chef-owned jewel is my favorite restaurant in Texas!  We've have the restaurant to ourselves and limiting this dinner to the first 30 reservations. The theme is Country French and we've selected some wonderful wines to pair with each course.

Have fun. Make new friends. Bon appétit!

Ed
